How the working time fund is calculated

The working time fund is the number of working hours in a given period. This page calculates it for working time distributed evenly from Monday to Friday. Czech public holidays falling on a working day are excluded, and the resulting number of days is converted using the selected weekly working time.

Working time fund for 40 hours per week

With a standard 40-hour week distributed evenly, one working day equals 8 hours. If a month has 21 working days after holidays are deducted, its working time fund is 168 hours.

Working time fund for 37.5 and 38.75 hours per week

Some working arrangements use a shorter prescribed week. The overview uses 7 hours 30 minutes per working day for 37.5 hours per week and 7 hours 45 minutes for 38.75 hours per week.

Custom weekly working time

If you use another weekly norm, enter your own hours per week. The overview divides it evenly across five working days and recalculates every month and the full year.

Working days, weekends, and public holidays

The table shows the working time fund alongside calendar days, working days, weekend days, and Czech public holidays falling on a working day. It also lists the specific holiday dates for each month.

Frequently asked questions about the working time fund

What is a working time fund?

It is the number of working hours in a period such as a month or year. It depends on the work schedule, number of working days, and public holidays falling on working days.

What is the working time fund in 2026?

The annual fund depends on the selected weekly working time. This overview calculates days and hours for 40, 38.75, 37.5 hours, or a custom weekly norm, including monthly values.

How is the monthly working time fund calculated?

The number of working days after Czech public holidays is multiplied by the length of one working day. For a 40-hour week, one day equals 8 hours.

Are public holidays included in the working time fund?

A Czech public holiday on a normal working day reduces the working-day count. A holiday on Saturday or Sunday is not deducted again.

How long is a working day for 37.5 hours per week?

When divided evenly across five days, it is 7 hours 30 minutes.

How long is a working day for 38.75 hours per week?

When divided evenly across five days, it is 7 hours 45 minutes.

Can I enter custom weekly working time?

Yes. Enter a custom value if your week is not 40, 38.75, or 37.5 hours. The calculation divides it evenly across Monday to Friday.

Why can the actual working time fund differ?

It may differ for shift or continuous operations, uneven schedules, part-time work, or an individual work calendar. This overview uses an even Monday-to-Friday schedule.

Where can I find working days for a specific month?

Select the month name in the table to open its detailed working-day, working-hour, weekend, and Czech holiday page.

Can I use the working time fund to plan a vacation?

Yes. Working days and holidays can help you choose dates. Use the Kolikto.cz Vacation Planner for a specific leave calculation.

What is a planning calendar?

The planning table summarizes months, quarters, and half-years with working days and hours, weekends, and public holidays.

What does the working time fund including paid holidays mean?

It is a supplementary figure that adds time for public holidays falling on a normal working day to the standard fund. It is not time actually worked. The figure can provide useful guidance for payroll and HR calculations.

The supplementary “including paid holidays” figure adds the hours for public holidays that fall on a normal working day to the working time fund. These are not hours actually worked; the figure is intended mainly as an indicative aid for payroll and HR purposes.

The specific treatment of wage compensation or a public holiday depends on the employee’s working arrangement and method of remuneration.
