How to use the vacation planner
1. Set your working-day length
Enter the number of hours and minutes in your usual working day. This value is used to convert leave between working days and hours.
2. Enter your available leave
You can enter your available leave in days or hours. The planner then shows how much leave you have planned and how much remains.
3. Add vacation dates
Select a single day or a full date range in the calendar. You can add multiple vacation periods as well as partial leave on a specific working day.
4. Check leave used and remaining
The result shows vacation working days, total calendar days off, weekends and public holidays within the selected periods, as well as total leave used in hours.
How vacation leave is calculated
The planner calculates leave use based on working days from Monday to Friday. Weekends do not consume leave, and a Czech public holiday that falls on a working day does not reduce the leave allowance entered in the planner. A public holiday that falls on a weekend is not counted twice.
Leave in days and hours
You can track leave in working days or hours. With an eight-hour working day, for example, 5 leave days equal 40 hours. If your working day has a different length, the planner uses the value you enter. This makes it easy to track both leave used and remaining leave in hours.
Multiple vacation periods in one plan
You can add several separate vacation periods to one plan and see their combined effect on your available leave. The plan can be saved in your browser or shared using a link.
This planner is intended for personal vacation planning and tracking leave use. It does not calculate statutory leave entitlement based on employment conditions; you enter your available leave balance yourself.
Frequently asked questions about vacation leave
How can I calculate how much leave I have left?
Enter your available leave balance in days or hours and add your planned vacation dates. The calculator works out the leave used by each period and shows how much remains after those periods are deducted.
How is vacation leave calculated in hours?
The planner uses the working-day length you enter. With an eight-hour working day, one full day of leave equals 8 hours. If your working day is 7 hours 30 minutes, that value is used instead.
Do weekends count as vacation leave?
No. Saturdays and Sundays do not consume vacation leave. They are still shown as part of the total time-off period, so you can see the difference between calendar days off and leave actually used.
Do public holidays count as vacation leave?
A Czech public holiday that falls on a working day does not consume leave in this planner. If the holiday falls on a weekend, it is not counted twice.
Can I plan several vacation periods at once?
Yes. You can add multiple separate vacation periods to one plan and also add partial leave on a specific working day. The overall result combines all added entries.
How is partial-day leave calculated?
For a specific working day, you can enter partial leave in hours and minutes. The duration must be shorter than a full working day and is included in the total leave used.
Can I save my vacation plan?
Yes. You can save the plan in your current browser. The saved plan is restored when you return to the page. The saved data remains in that browser.
Can I share my vacation plan with someone else?
Yes. The share function creates a link containing the current plan. The recipient can open it in their browser without automatically overwriting their own saved plan.
Does this calculator calculate my legal leave entitlement?
No. The calculator tracks the use of the leave balance you enter yourself. It does not calculate statutory entitlement from employment length, time worked or employment-law conditions.
